The Directors of KCS each have a have an extensive background in supporting the needs of the Cambodian community in Australia.


Katie Sokunthea Phon
Katie2Katie holds a Bachelors of Social Work and has been engaged in a variety of positions within the welfare sector for over 10 years encompassing both outreach and management roles. She has also worked with Save the Children in Cambodia as a Program Coordinator as well as in Real Estate Agent as an Area Manager/Sales Consultant. Katie is accredited with NAATI and a translator and interpreter.


Saruon Khuon
Sar2After arriving as a refugee from Cambodia in the early 1980’s, Saruon completed her education in Australia and obtained a Diploma of Business and a Master Class Certificate of Trauma Counselling and Psychotherapy as well as vocational qualifications relevant to her wok in the welfare sector whilst engaged with the Cambodian Association of Victoria, WAYSS Ltd and The Salvation Army.
Saruon has over 25 years experience in dealing with both with Government and Non-government agencies in supporting the Cambodian and broader Australian community. Saruon has worked extensively with the homeless, frail and aged and specifically with women and children experiencing family violence as a Case Manager and brings with her a knowledge of Government and Non Government services for those seeking assistance.


Noroth Som
Noroth2Noroth holds an Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Victoria University in Melbourne and has worked for 5 years with the Cambodian Association of Victoria as Settlement Officer and Social Worker.
